Our suggestions
Freedom to sniff, recall in safety
A training lead is a very long leash that lets your dog explore at a distance while staying connected to you. It is the ideal tool to work on recall before letting him off leash, for a newly adopted dog discovering his surroundings, or for walks in the woods and fields. 2 cm nylon webbing, swivel snap hook and stitched handle.
At a glance
- 11 lengths, from 1.2 m (everyday leash) to 30 m (tracking, wide open spaces)
- 2 cm nylon webbing, light and supple
- 360° swivel snap hook: the lead does not twist
- Stitched handle at the end of the webbing
- 6 colors that are easy to spot in the grass
Which length to choose?
| Length | Use |
| 1.2 m to 1.8 m | walking leash in town |
| 3 m to 6 m | parks, training, first recall exercises |
| 10 m to 15 m | long-distance recall, walks in the woods |
| 20 m to 30 m | wide open spaces, tracking |
Always attach a long line to a harness, never to the collar: a sudden stop at the end of 10 m pulls on the neck. For a suitable harness, see our dog harnesses.
How do I stop it from tangling?
Let it trail on the ground rather than holding it taut, and gather the excess in loops in your hand, never wrapped around your wrist or fingers.
Do I need gloves?
For leads of 10 m and more with a dog that takes off quickly, yes: webbing sliding fast through your hand can burn the skin.
Can it be washed?
Yes, by hand in soapy water, then air dried: handy after a muddy walk.
Does a long line help a dog that pulls?
Yes, before the short-lead walk: ten minutes of sniffing and trotting at the park, on the harness, and it arrives in town already calm. Why it pulls and how to stop it: our dog pulling on the lead guide.
