Our suggestions
Warm, right above the radiator
In winter, cats look for warmth: the window sill above the radiator becomes their favourite spot, when there is one. This radiator hammock gives them that cosy corner: a metal frame hooks onto the radiator and stretches a thick plush cover, where your cat curls up, carried by the rising heat.
Key points
- 46 x 30 cm once assembled, 25 cm high, according to the manufacturer
- For a cat of up to 5 kg, according to the manufacturer
- Removable plush cover, machine washable
- Foldable metal frame: stores flat in the warmer months
How do I install it?
Hook the frame onto the top of the radiator so that it stands straight, then slip on the cover. Check that it is stable before letting your cat settle in, and choose a radiator whose surface stays warm rather than hot: turn a very hot radiator down. Machine wash the cover at 30 °C from time to time.
For other cosy spots, see our suction cup window hammock, our wooden hanging hammock and our self-heating mat. All our cat beds and hammocks.
Will it fit my radiator?
The frame hooks onto the top of a standard panel or column radiator; measure the thickness of the top of your radiator and check that the hammock holds firmly before use.
What about summer?
Fold the frame and store it, or hook the hammock onto a radiator that is off: your cat keeps its high spot.
Is it suitable for an older cat?
An old cat, often thinner and arthritic, seeks warmth: vets recommend warm resting spots, without excess. Hook the hammock onto a radiator set to lukewarm, at a height your cat reaches without jumping, or place a step in front. See our guide senior cat.
Why does my cat spend the winter on the radiator?
Because its thermal comfort zone is far warmer than ours: in a house at 20 °C, it naturally seeks the warmest, highest spot. The hammock gives it that place safely, as long as the radiator is not scorching. How to tell if it is cold and give it a cosy winter: our guide is my cat cold.
