Our suggestions
After surgery, a gentle alternative to the cone
After spaying, neutering or abdominal surgery, your dog must not lick or nibble its wound. A cone prevents this, but it gets in the way of eating, drinking, sleeping and going through doors. This dog recovery suit covers the chest, belly and back like a fitted T-shirt: the operated area stays out of reach of its tongue, and it moves and rests normally.
Key points
- Covers the chest, belly and back, from the neck to the hips
- Four bound leg openings; tail and hindquarters stay free
- Snap-button closure along the back, ribbed collar
- Soft cotton, according to the manufacturer
- 7 sizes, XS to 3XL: from puppies to large dogs of about 40 kg
- 2 patterns: navy blue stripes or grey camouflage
Which size should I choose?
Measure the chest girth (just behind the front legs) and the back length (from the base of the neck to the base of the tail). Choose by chest girth; the weight is only a guide. Between two sizes, take the larger one: some buyers find the suit a little snug, especially around the legs.
| Size | Chest girth | Back length | Approx. weight |
| XS | 28 to 36 cm | 22 cm | 1 to 2 kg |
| S | 32 to 40 cm | 29 cm | 2 to 4 kg |
| M | 36 to 46 cm | 33 cm | 3 to 7.5 kg |
| L | 46 to 58 cm | 41 cm | 7.5 to 15 kg |
| XL | 58 to 72 cm | 48 cm | 12.5 to 20 kg |
| XXL | 70 to 88 cm | 56 cm | 20 to 30 kg |
| 3XL | 74 to 94 cm | 63 cm | 30 to 40 kg |

Good to know
Ask your vet for advice: depending on where the wound is (legs, tail, head), a cone may still be needed. Keep an eye on your dog for the first few hours, and take the suit off if it gets wet or dirty. If a cone is needed, see our inflatable collar; for a cat, see our cat recovery suit.

How do I put it on?
Open the snaps, slip the front legs then the hind legs into their openings, and close the snaps from the neck to the tail: the suit should fit snugly without squeezing.
Can my dog relieve itself while wearing it?
The hindquarters and tail stay free. On a male dog, the suit covers the belly: take it off for walks, or change it if it gets wet. With two suits, your dog always has a clean one.
How long should it be worn?
Until the wound has healed, following your vet's advice, usually until the check-up or the removal of the stitches.
